D-77 Pelican Dropship
Gleich als ich das erste Mal Halo spielte, fand ich die Dropships, genannt "Pelican",
am coolsten. Aber wie schon bei der Shadowcat
stellte sich schnell heraus, dass es dazu keinen Bausatz gab - und aller Voraussicht
nach auch nicht geben wird, denn dazu ist Halo wohl nicht populär genug geworden. Also
war mal wieder klar, da muss was getan werden! Also fix (naja was heißt fix...) das 3D-Modell
zurechtgezaubert, aufgefaltet und schon war das Mammutprojekt fertig! Klingt so
einfach, war es aber nicht, aber das Ergebnis kann sich auf jeden Fall
sehen lassen, würde ich sagen.

Ansicht
Vom Pelican habe ich bis jetzt nur den Prototypen gebaut, anhand dessen ich festgestellt
habe, was im Bauplan anders gelöst werden muss. Jetzt sollte der Flieger recht angenehm
zu bauen sein, wenn auch nicht für Anfänger. Er besteht aus mehreren Sektionen, die meist
zusammen auf einem Blatt sitzen. Leider habe ich beim Bau keine Fotos gemacht und konnte
daher noch keine Anleitung schreiben, das erhöht den Schwierigkeitsgrad noch ein wenig.
Generell sollte man von vorne nach hinten und von oben nach unten vorgehen. Für bewegliche
Triebwerksgondeln bietet sich die Gelenk-Technik aus dem Mech-Bereich an, die ich hier
nicht extra erläutere. Sämtliche Hohlkörper sind nach Möglichkeit nach dem Kiste-Deckel-Prinzip
aus gelegt, das heißt, man kann sie erst kistenartig zusammenkleben, bis eine letzte Fläche
als Deckel zum Zuklappen übrig bleibt, was vieles erleichtert und leider allzu häufig
nicht beachtet wird.

Instructions
Since I have received numerous emails complaining about the missing instructions,
especially in english, I will for now translate some of the text above. Furthermore
I have decided to write some real instructions, with pictures etc, but that will take some
more time, sorry :D
Short instructions:
I have only built the prototype yet to optimize the model in the process, so it should be
rather convenient to build. The pelican consist of several sections with the parts for each
usually printed on the same sheet. General advice is to proceed from front to back and from top
to bottom. I have tried to construct most parts by using what I call the Box-And-Cover-method,
which means that each part can be glued in form like a box, leaving only a cover that can be
closed easily.
I hope I will be able to release the full instructions some time soon, but since there's quite
a lot to do in the moment they may be delayed. However, with the help from the nice people
on the Zealot Forum I have
already put together some reference pics that might prove useful. Thank you people!

Update (16.06.2008):Please don't ask for the proper instructions via email, as
stated above I cannot send them to anyone since they just aren't finished (in fact they
aren't even started). This is not because I'm an evil modeler who wants to stay the only
one having a pelican, but because I have no time to write them! As soon as the proper
instructions are ready they WILL be available for download here, believe me :D
Still,
I'll be happy to answer questions on specific parts of the build, since that might also
help me with the instructions.
For now, some more specific advice: you should start
with the cockpit (1). Assemble it, you might already want to attach the landing gear part,
then assemble the middle section (2) separately, and put the two together. After that put the
white cover part with the holes onto the mid section. Now you can assemble the tail
section (3), if you can't find out where to put the bracings, just throw them away, they
aren't too important. Before you glue this section onto the other two, you should attach
the wings so you can support them from the inside when glueing. Sounds easy, but apparently
it can be a little tricky ;)
PS: You can write me in english, if you don't speak german... many tried and it wasn't always
easy to understand - but thank you for trying, people :D
